The Boffin Breakdown
The Swan Valley wine region has approximately 850 hectares of land under vine, which is harvested between mid February and early March. Vines were first planted in this region in the early 1800s with their first wine production in the 1830s. This makes it the oldest wine region in Western Australia.
The wines they are particularly known for are their Verdelho, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Rose, Merlot and Semillon Verdelho. Swan Valley wineries also do wonderful liqueur wines as well. Their liqueur Verdelho and liqueur Shiraz are especially popular.
